Raja Ravi Varma

(1) Lady with a lamp: I was ecstatic when I saw this painting in Hyderabad about 15 yrs ago. He captured the light and shadow so effectively. (2) Shakuntala with her friends (3) Draupadi being sent to see Kichaka. (4) A lady giving alms to a poor man. For somebody who loves art, Raja Ravi Varma's paintings are an inspiration. During the 19th century he was responsible for revitalizing Indian painting. His subjects were inspired by either everyday or mythological events. These are some of his paintings that I adore...
